FREE! Web 2.0 Tools You Can Use To Grow Your Business

Published by Jeff Turner under Announcements

On March 19, 2008 from 12:00 Noon to 1:45 PM in Room 505, I will be speaking at the Colorado Realtor Rally to be held the Colorado Convention Center. I’ll be covering some of the free tools you can use to grow your business and walking the audience though some live “how to” sessions on each of my selected tools. This will not be just another list of free websites, but a thorough analysis of a few real winners in the “FREE” category. I say “free” because nothing is really free. And some of the sites I’ll be presenting have options that eventually require that you pay… and you should!

Also presenting:

Mariana Wagner, Bonnie Cox, Chris Frerecks and Vali Wimberly are on a panel entitled Blogging for Business from 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM in Room 506

Recycling Your Real Estate Shows

Published by Sarah Cooper under On Other Blogs, ideas

How long has it been since you looked at your inventory of Real Estate Shows? Hopefully you aren’t using RES just for listings – haven’t I taught you better by now??? (If you’re feeling nosy, please feel free to peek at my Shows. My active listings are now on my team’s Real Estate Shows account, in case you wonder!)

Recycle Your Real Estate ShowsIf you’re like me, you’re not “just” a real estate agent. You’re probably also your own marketing department. I bet you have a website and a blog, or at least you’re working on getting there. Can I guess that you wouldn’t complain if someone handed you a little more time and money? Doesn’t it just make sense if one thing can work for you in many ways? Wouldn’t that lower your stress level a little?

Yesterday I scrolled through my Real Estate Shows library and realized that I have some great stuff in there. I thanked myself for that earlier work, then resurrected an old Show and wrote a post on ThePutnamScoop.com to go with it.

I love this! I got a chance to talk again about a cause I believe in. I had not just pictures, but a beautiful Show with words and music to get across to the reader just the feeling I intended. I was able to use something I already had in a new way – recycling! Not just good for the environment, it’s good for the budget. :)

And even better, I have more Shows in there that will be inspiration for posts for a long time to come! The next time I’m stumped for a topic, I know just where to go. What a relief that is!

Zillow, Geebo And Hotpads Added To Distribution Options

Published by RES under Flyers, Announcements

New distribution channels have been added for your RES Flyers.

Zillow, Hotpads and Geebo Logo Illustration For Real Estate ShowsToday we launched distribution links to Zillow.com, Geebo.com and Hotpads.com, to add to the already available syndication channels at RealEstateShows.com. You may update any existing listing to these new channels by logging into your account, clicking on Manage & Edit Existing Shows and then clicking on the publish link for any property you’d like to distribute to these new channels.

Remember that none of the sites can use your distribution if you have not included the address for the property. We have been seeing a larger than expected number of attempts to create distribution without property addresses. This will result in a rejection by the distribution partners, since the address fields are part of their search criteria. So, be sure to include the correct address in your property description.

A Message To Sellers

Published by Sarah Cooper under ideas

This is an idea you might want to think over and shape into your own style.

Yesterday Chris Griffith of Keller Williams Elite Realty in Bonita Springs, Florida wrote a post titled “Why Your Bonita Springs Home Is Not Selling.” (Chris is a prolific blogger whose whole blog Life in Bonita Springs is informative, fun or just flat out brilliant, depending on her mood that day — what I’m trying to say is that she’s 100% FRW, Feed Reader Worthy.)

Last night while I was trying to fall asleep, I was thinking about what good advice there was in that post. (Yes, I do dorky things like that.) That led me to wonder why, when it all seems to make perfect sense, so many home owners have trouble with the basics of selling? And then after they overprice their house, put off showings and don’t want a lockbox, they wonder why their house isn’t selling. What???

It occurred to me that different people learn in different ways. We sit down with our clients and tell them these things when we list their house, but after we leave, how much do they remember?

Some people will retain what they read or see better than what they hear. (Count me in this group.) Would it help if you made a “reminder” Real Estate Show and emailed it to them with a little note letting them know you discussed a lot while listing their house, here’s a little refresher of the basics?

The Show below uses the ideas from Chris’ post in a visual way, in the hopes that it might help a “visual learner” seller. Your mission: watch the Show and try to think of a way you could use your Real Estate Shows to help your clients benefit from your experience.

You could make a Show about how you work, such as what you’ll do to market and sell a house. You could illustrate what sellers can do to help their house sell faster, like accepting showings and keeping the house fresh and clean. Would it be in the sidebar of your website or do you want a blog post you can refer to clients over and over again? Think on it and let me know. :)

Better Than Free

Cathy Tishhouse is a new Real Estate Shows client. And she asked the following question in the comment section of a blog post on ActiveRain:

I subscribed to Real Estate Shows a few weeks ago after seeing some posted by Missy Caulk and my seller’s love them - really adds to my listing presentation. Just when I was doing the trial run, I found out that RE/MAX has a similar tool in their design center but liked this one better… I have noticed that the pictures on the Real Estate Shows end up zooming into a particular spot that I might not have chosen - is there a tutorial to say what angle is best to take the pictures in the future - don’t want to go back and retake them all. Thanks for your help.

Well, we did have a tutorial on camera movement that I could have sent her to view, but I wanted to test a brand new piece of software, ScreenFlow, so I made the following video to answer her question.

ScreenFlow: Editing Camera Movement in Real Estate Shows from respres on Vimeo.

I sent the video to her via email and this was her response:

It worked great – thanks so much – I have changed my shows and very quickly. I am having trouble with the sound on my lap top – very faint and volume is turned up the highest. So, I could hardly hear but the visuals were enough to do this quickly. I love that I don’t have to watch the way I take the picture but can adjust the focus here. Great idea – this is why I chose yours over the free version that RE/MAX offers J and Thanks for the quick response!!

It was, of course, my pleasure. I was asked twice last week why someone would choose to pay for Real Estate Shows instead of opting for some other “free” option. I’ve been asked that question many times. But I’ve never had anyone ask me that question who had actually given Real Estate Shows a try.

There’s an old adage, “free is usually worth what you pay for it.”

Success and mastery are always about the subtleties. Many presentations look the same until you examine them more closely. Then the details emerge, details that mark the difference between successful presentations and those that just go through the motions but don’t deliver great results.

You are in business to get results and earn a living. We’re in business to help you do that.
