I also left the same "valley" and did not want any input from friends or family on my decision to purchase a new home 20 miles away. After I was well into escrow I began to share more with everyone, but my purchase was a very private matter. Part of my reason for not sharing is that well-meaning people will begin to project their fears and beliefs onto you and your life and I do not want to become caught up in al of that.
